Wanting a child is a real adventure. Sometimes the baby doesn't come despite all your efforts and desire. Meet the bubbly Marie.
-Can you please introduce yourself and tell us about your background?
I am Marie, I am 39 years old and I am the mother of two little girls aged 5 and 7. I have been a retraining nurse for 11 years, after working in events and communications. Since 2019 I have trained thanks in particular to a Quebec school, but also a university degree and specific training in the profession of perinatal companion. As I think that this passionate profession drives me, I have found my signature over the years, and I have specialized in fertility and perinatal difficulties.
-How has motherhood impacted your outlook on life?
I think that motherhood was obvious to me. I didn't see myself as anything other than a mother. Having one and then two children, quite close together, made me realize that life can completely change, change direction, but still be just as fascinating! I was lucky to be confident in my body and my mind. I didn't suffer from not being in control of everything and I let it come.... My mantra now is that "the principle is not to have any", when I talk about my life as a mother.
-What is perinatal support?
A long time ago, when children grew up close to their elders, we were surrounded to experience this key moment of motherhood. Today, we are often alone, with many injunctions and desire for perfection around motherhood and the role of mother, parents. It takes a village to become a mother and raise a child. The perinatal companion, through her training and her signature, is there to support, contain, encompass future or new parents ... And those who are trying to become one.
For me, perinatal support is a global, proximal, gentle and caring support to set in motion, to make couples actors in the baby adventure and to prove their power to them to always give them more confidence!
-What massages do you practice and what are the links with your philosophy?
I am trained in prenatal massage but thanks to my many practices and other training I also practice it postnatally with pelvic tightening with rebozo tissue.
I am also trained in kobido massage, a revitalizing Japanese massage which is a real gift to give yourself as a mother!
For me, massage is an encounter, an accompaniment in its own right, an intention for the person being massaged. Sometimes, in my accompaniments for difficult journeys, I suggest a body and skull passage so that the body can unload when the head does not want to talk.
-Can you tell us more about the sensory bath ritual?
The sensory bath ritual is a moment outside of time, where new parents settle down and enjoy the moment. They talk, tell stories, open up... I listen, welcome and inform if necessary. Then we move on to the bath. Water is such a great medium to check the connection! The baby is wrapped up and bathes in the water like when he was bathing in his mother's womb. Sometimes, he relives a moment of his birth, sometimes it's complicated for him or for his parents. So we get out of the water and start again, we take our time, we encompass, and we repair.
In this ritual, it is the parents who do it, I am there as a guide, and that is what makes me love providing it!
Once again, they gain confidence in their abilities to be parents. It is often a very emotional moment for them as well as for me.
-What advice would you like to share with women for a balanced life?
I am not the queen of balance! With my multiple hats and my busy family life, I dream of a morning yoga ritual or nighttime meditation but I am not there yet. So I think I would say to preserve yourself, as a woman and find yourself at the right time, and then preserve your relationship because our man is an unconditional support and it is thanks to the love of two beings that we can multiply it with our children. Finally, I believe that we must enjoy life, see our children grow up, our parents grow old and taste more and more the sweetness of these beautiful moments.
-Can you tell us about Casa Lilas?
Casa Lilas is a wellness and health center that my colleague and friend Clémence Juillet created in 2021 in Toulouse.
We are several health professionals: naturopath, osteopath, psychologists, nutritionist, reflexologist, sophrologist and me! We met when the casa was created and we have a special attention in each of our professions for the support of women and motherhood.
It’s a welcoming, multidisciplinary place full of great vibes for the people of Toulouse!
Located in the heart of the Guilhemery district, Casa Lilas welcomes you at 18 rue des Lilas in Toulouse. The multidisciplinary center is composed of a team of practitioners for better management of the individual's health and well-being as a whole, both physically, energetically and emotionally.
